Apparently, my faith has died.
Near the end of January, I was wandering the aisles of WalMart and found these cute little cups that had a disc of soil and some seeds. "These would be perfect for FHE!" I thought, and bought six. I tried to wait until the weather was a little warmer. A week or two later, I couldn't stand it and we had a nice little lesson about faith. The appropriate scripture was read, we sang the accompanying song, we talked about what faith is and things we can do to strengthen our faith. For our activity, we "planted" these sunflowers in their cups; the next day, we procured a little tray for them to live in, and I moved them into the window in Sweet Girl and Little Man's room. I dutifully opened the curtains every day and let them bask in the sunshine, I watered them every time I noticed the soil was dry. After a couple of weeks, we had some impressive shoots. For the past couple months, I've cared for them the best way I could with my black thumb. Even when the impressive shoots started to die down, and one by one they died, I kept watering, hoping that they'd rally around and make a comeback. However, yesterday I had to give in and admit that my faith has died:
All this time I've been deluding myself. Who knew? LOL
And apparently, DH isn't doing so hot, either:
But little children must have great faith. (That's probably why we're admonished so many times in the scriptures to be as a little child.) Because all the kids' sunflowers are still going strong!
Kiddo, Munchkin, Sweet Girl and Little Man's plants:

OK, so even if not all of them are thriving, at least they're green. *sigh*

You need to transplant them into something bigger! Sorry yours died :(
I'm so sorry your faith died. At least the kids are still hanging in there!
lol!
I'm currently nurturing my four year old's pumpkin plant and I hope I can get it in the ground before it dies. The snow we're getting today isn't helping any. Ugh.
So sorry to hear of the fatality of your faith. Just take solace in the knowledge that your children must have learned from you. ; }
Now that they are bigger plant them outside. Maybe that will KEEP THE FAITH ALIVE! LOL Man, I hate it when my faith dies.
DH kept saying he was gonna plant them. I kept waiting. Looks like I'd better do it, cuz he ain't gonna! :-)
LOL!
I have never EVER been able to keep a plant alive. That's why I have fake plants....even in my back yard flower bed! ROTFL!
Okay. Totally laughing here. We did that last year with pumpkin seeds and dh's family. Everyone else had huge plants, ours died.
So much for object lessons!
You must have forgotten the "secret" ingredient in yours, Taf.....I'm pretty sure little man added Cocoa Puffs!
My theory: You killed them with that country music crap you listen to. Had you provided them with "real" music, say, Bon Jovi (Keep The Faith), well......need I say more?
LOL!
Lol. Darling idea for fhe... lvoe it!!!
Hey, what a coincidence. When I babysat your kids for that summer I tested my faith too...that sounds funny...lol. What I meant was that I did the whole bean in a cup thing and I kept it in the room you had me stay in. It was for a young womens project. I believe it did well, I have no idea what happened to it, though.
Do you think your faith can be resurrected? Thanks for the link, I'll add yours asap.
